Deputy Sheriff Bill Butler from the Hillsdale County Sheriff's Office in Michigan was shot and killed on June 27, 2024, while assisting another deputy with a traffic stop. The driver, who had warrants out for his arrest, did not cooperate with the deputies. During the altercation, the driver pulled out a gun and shot Deputy Butler before fleeing on foot.
