Greece Schools Vote on $72.5 Million Project

Staff Report / Greecelocal.org

On December 10, residents of the Greece Central School District will have the opportunity to vote on a capital improvement project called "Level Up." This proposal aims to enhance every school in the district without raising the tax levy. The project has a total budget of $72.5 million and includes two main components: “Upkeep” and “Update.”

The "Upkeep" component addresses urgent maintenance and improvement needs across the district. This will involve various projects such as replacing roofing, windows, flooring, and mechanical systems, tailored to the specific needs of each school.

The "Update" component focuses on reconfiguring existing classrooms in 14 schools. This is intended to create more space that can better accommodate an increasing number of students requiring special education and support services.

Additionally, the proposal includes $5 million set aside for a potential addition to one elementary school. The exact location for this addition will be determined by a further study assessing the need for additional space. If the need is not established, the funding will be redirected to address other high-priority maintenance and improvement projects.

Residents are encouraged to consider these key points before voting on the Level Up proposal.
